I have my main monitor running off a Radeon 9600XT and two other monitors (one extended, one cloned) running of a 9200se. I can use my leadtek pvr2000 tv tuner on my main monitor, but when I try and drag the window across to my other monitor it goes black and the program stops responding. Also, after I close the program i can't use it again until i restart because it says cannot preview video and won't show anything. Anyone got any ideas about this, is there anything i can do or is it not possible?

I had the same problem when I was using a cheap pci video card for my second monitor, I just thought is was because it was a cheap card that it wouldnt work. But, maybe it is something to do with the software.

If your software has the option to turn off the overlay, switch the overlay to the secondary monitor, use VMR or D3D to render the video, you can watch it on a secondary monitor, otherwise you'll need to make the monitor you want to view the movie on the "Primary" display.

My AIW 9600 had the same problem trying to watch TV on the second monitor.....or even playing a video file. As a last resort I actually read through the faq section, and found the ATI card does not support such an action.....

I installed a secondary nVidea pci card, and now I can watch videos on the secondary monitor.....but the ATI TV tuner still won't display.

ATI cards most definately do support it, using with Theater Mode, or by using a software player that can use VMR rendering for output. ATI's MMC software only supports it through Theater Mode, however there is a number of softwares that will allow you to watch video on the secondary screen...I do it all the time.

Reading through the MMC manual, it states that action is impossible. I hate to sound stupid, but what is this "Theater" mode? I don't see it in the MMC.

Theater Mode uses the overlay to display video on you secondary monitor. Any of the dual RAMDAC radeons support it.

You enable it in Catalyst drivers, you need to be in "Clone" mode, and in CCC, go to the "Video" settings and set up "Theater Mode" under "Overlay display in Clone Mode" and set the settings for your secondary monitor.

Remember, your software needs to be using the overlay to display video for this method to work (File Player in MMC uses overlay by default). When you start the video playback on the primary screen, you should be able to minimize the software player to the taskbar, and the video will display on the secondary screen, and your primary screen will be free to use.

I had an ATI TV Wonder PCI card and I could use it on the second monitor using either DScaler or the ATI software. Try DScaler?
