Basically, whenever Windows Update starts up, the svchost it's running on will spike to 100% cpu until it either shuts off itself or I kill the process via Process Explorer.
I can't update my Windows XP. I don't recall when this started, but it's a problem spanning multiple hard drives. At random times at night (even if it's disabled, which it is) Windows Update will activate and suck up all of my processing power. I don't know how to fix this, and it's really irritating me, since It happened on my last hard drive, too. Then again, they're both running on this computer. And yes, I have tried taking out the first drive.
I just want this to end. I've been dealing with it for months and I'm sick of it.
