Can't use both modem and onboard gbit lan

I just built a system using the Aopen AK89 Max board. When I installed the modem, the gigabit lan stopped working. I checked the resources tab in the device manager, and it said "the device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12)" "if you want to use this device, you will have to disable one of the other devices...."
"input/output range D500-D5FF not available". I tried the troubleshooter (W2K) and couldn't solve the problem. I want to be able to network to another PC, but I would prefer not to have to add a NIC when one is already onboard. Any help would be appreciated.

what else is using that range? go into bios and turn off the stuff you aren't using...lpt? com ports? etc

try moving the modem to another slot.
