Can't update my mobo BIOS

Am wanting to update my Epox 8KTA3 to the lastest but when I type UPDATE in DOS it loads ok but when it shows the screen where I choose what BIOS I want to update to and what I want to save my old BIOS tas it keeps saying at the bottom beside Message(please wait)

Any ideas?

Well I got pass the please wait problem and it save my current BIOS to the floppy but when it goes to update my BIOS it says Source file not found or something. I know the file is on the floppy disk as I looked 3 times.

BTW to get past the please wait part I put a .bin at the in of the file so that worked.

Thanks

Oh yeah I don't have no BIOS options in the BIOS. Any ideas why its not finding the file?

<< Any ideas why its not finding the file? >>

is the file you d/loaded a zip file?
if it is you'll have to unzip it before copying it to the floppy!

On page 4-9 of your manual it shows (adv. chipset options) system Bios cacheable. ENABLED

Take a clean floppy, put it in slot, go to my computer/floppy/right click/ "format" option/copy system files only.

D/L 8Kt31906.exe from Epox to Windows/temp folder
Double click on .exe and point extract to same Floppy

You should now have IO.sys, MSDOS.sys, Drvspace.bin, Command.com
PLUS Files extracted from your download:
README.TXT Text file with BIOS Release & Application Notes.
UPDATE.BAT Batch file for the Flash BIOS update process.
RESTORE.BAT Batch file for the Flash BIOS restore process.
8kt31906.BIN BIOS binary file used by UPDATE.BAT.
AWDFLASH.EXE Program used to Flash BIOS code to the EEPROM.

The update.batch file is an autorun sequence file that when you type "update" [enter] starts awardflash and sucks out the .bin file for you to select. There should be NO reason to change anything.
You can do this "manually" by typing Awardflash at the A:\
Then type in manually the exact letters in the bin file.
If you forget the .bin callout just type at A:\ dir

Note: A startup disk contains himem.sys, wont work.

Well how do I do a format/add system files in Win2k? Its not like Win98SE. Also I did find BIOS Cacheing and enabled it still no luck though it keeps saying source file not found.

Anyone?

Lets attack this from the other direction:
What EXACTLY do you have on your flashing floppy now?
Do you have anti-virus installed?
Is the 8kTA31906.bin file 256K. When you right click it, does it show "archive" in properties?
