CAN'T UNINSTALL XP - HELP!

OK, my XP Pro is really acting up and pi$$ing me off. When I try to uninstall, it says setup files have been changed, uninstall will not continue. When trying from the command prompt, it says it cannot uninstall because it is trying directly access the hard drive. What do I do so I can get this off and put ME back on?
