Hi all,

System I built a while ago

Epox nforce 4
venice 3200
6600gt

Is being used just for gaming by my friend for WOW.

Everything seems corrupt. Wow doesnt work...Cant uninstall it.

All the anti virus stuff (Anti vir, spybot, spyware blaster) are gone or have been moved to different files.

Did a system restore which got the computer back up and running and the internet back on but wow is still unusable. It will not let me reinstall it or uninstall it.

Tried uninstalling the program file but that didnt help

Tried reinstalling windows installer 3.1 after uninstalling it. That didnt help

HELP Before I have to reinstall windows completely

Thanks, Leigh

We need to know what happens when you try to uninstall and what happens when you try to reinstall (if they're both separate errors or whatever they may be).

Hmm I'd say our first thing to do is look for that file and see if it exists much less can be read.

Albeit if you think this way will be too much of a hassle, just delete the WoW directory (saving any screenshots or UI add-on data files that you might want) and use a program to remove WoW from the registry as an installed program. Then try reinstalling it. It isn't a very nice way of doing it, but it's a work-around that should work.

Work around worked. We uninstalled the file from the registry. Then unistalled the program file. Then spent 2 hours reloading wow with the patches and voila!!!! Kyle is back playing wow and the computer is back to normal.............................

This got so corrupt it caused the whole computer to not boot. It looks like the server got hacked and he got a trojan that moved files around and into wow!!!!

What a hassle.

FYI / Did you know: You can copy all of WOW's folder contents onto a new computer and it would load up just fine. No installation necessary.

Aye, WoW is a standalone program. When I restored my system recently, I just copied the entire folder to my external drive, then copied it back over. Saves everything, UI, keybindings, etc.
