the old beta won't run any more, the new one won't install without removing the old one. When I go into my applications to remove it, the option is grayed out. So I used Astro shell to search for anything on my phone with swype in the name. Nothing comes up.

Any ideas what I can do here?

It came pre-installed on my phone and you can't delete it (Samsung Galaxy S).

It didn't come on my phone (Droid 1) and I am rooted + running Blackdroid. there is no swype*.apk, and I definitely installed it manually from a beta months ago. Tried to use it recently, it loads but when I swype no text comes up.

All I can think of is the apk isn't named swype, but I sure as hell can't find any apk that looks like it could be it.

if you're rooted then use titanium backup, it's in the market and it will kill it with fire from orbit

HAhaha swype quit working on me at 3am while drinking..... The phone definantly wanted to die. After a long night of drunken rage towards the phone i found the simple solution. Hold down the type box, select input method as swype.! Sheeze are you serious! Warning if you are awake at 3am and have been drinking and your phone decideds to not work, just walk away untill morning no matter what! it is much easier to get a phone app to start working sober. Do not take out your anger towards the lil app by destroying objects surrounding the phone. Apps need to have a safety net for people using them at 3am while drinking, like not disabling themselves sending you a email saying thank you for using swype beta, to continue using please register and download the installer, then letting you download it and open it it say to delete the previous version, however it does not lettyou delete it to re-install it. AHHHHHH wait it was just disabled. Great, now who looks like the smart-one? Damn smartphones. They almost need to say caution may become difficult to operate while drinking.
