Can't transfer files to other pc on network.

Hi all,
I have a WRT54G wireless router with my main pc connected via ethernet cable and another pc in the basement connects via a USB wireless adapter.
I can see the shares on the other computer and can drag and drop files from the other computer to my main one. However I can't drag and drop a file onto the basement computer. I always get a "Cannot Copy file. Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected..."
The files are located in a shared folder.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Gary

check to make sure that in the shared folder properties of the basement comp that you check the box:
allow network users to change my files.

on the basement computer right click on the shared folder-select sharing and security- and check the box

that should do it.

If the computers are windows xp pro and you are using different usernames and passwords then enable simple file sharing on the box you cannot copy to. Tools - folder options - view tab - last option at the bottom, tick it.

Hope this fares you well 🙂

ok i think i can help you here
first off make sure you run the network setup wizard on both machines. just to cover your bases.

even in the shared folder you have to enable the "share this folder" option.
then go into my network places and make sure you can see your shared folder on the network from your box.

if that doesnt work turn off your firewall and then after you have transfrerred the file turn it back on and it should ask you if you want to permit. (im assuming your using Norton) are you using service pack 2? make sure windows firewall is off.

if that does even work you can go into my network places and click the little "show pnpd devices" its off to the left. i think thats what it is but it looks like a little tiny tv with antennas on it.

hope that helps
