I'm on a different computer in case you were going to ask. Anyways, I have a WinXP media center edition acer computer, and it was working fine this morning. I went to work, came back, started it up and it said the internet didnt work. Ok this is normal, I shut it off, restart the router, but it won't start back up. It will turn on, go to the loading screens, and right when it's about to go to login screen, theres a split second where a blue screen comes up but then it loops back to restart, over and over. I cannot start in safe mode, and i have no discs. Anything I can do?

1) what happens when you try to start in Safe Mode?

2) how come you have no discs? :( You might try getting some from Acer's customer support on Monday.

1) after it has Windows XP logo and the little bar fills up, it shows a blue screen for half an instant, then starts over again at first screen when you startup, then goes to options for safe mode etc.

After I do safe mode, ithas all the commands and stuff lkike normal, boots up, then just starts back over again. What CAN i do

If you haven't tried it already, try the Last Known Good Configuration option instead of Safe Mode. Survey says...?

Darn. Well, having a computer but no operating-system discs is like having one headlight working on your car... not a good thing to ignore. If nothing else will work, get a new XP MCE license and CDs from Newegg and call it a $140 lesson learned :(

Ok then ;/. But how would I clear everything or w/e? Also, could you think ofa reason why this would happen? It was working just peachy, I came home and it did this, and it was in idle mode when I was gone.

But how would I clear everything or w/e?
In the simplest case, you would

1) put your computer's hard drive into a different computer as a storage drive so you could rescue your stuff (documents, pics, etc) before you do anything drastic.

2) then you would put the hard drive back into your computer again

3) then you would boot from the WinXP CD-ROM disc and try Method 2: Reinstall Windows XP by starting your computer from the Windows XP CD. If your computer has its WinXP MCE license stuck to it like it ought to, use that license key so you can save your other license key.

4) if that works, then don't stop there. Run a full diagnostic on your hard drive using the manufacturer's diagnostic utility (scroll to bottom of page), run Memtest86, and run a full virus scan with a high-quality virus scanner.

5) if the repair installation in step 3 didn't work, then start Windows Setup from CD-ROM, get to where it shows the partitions on the HDD (if any), delete them all, and exit from Windows Setup. Now start Windows Setup a second time and follow through. If your computer has its WinXP MCE license stuck to it like it ought to, use that license key so you can save your other license key.

Also, could you think ofa reason why this would happen?
Power surges or sags in your electrical power. Viruses, exploits and worms (were you downloading?). Fan failure --> overheated component (chipset or CPU). Hardware that is simply dying and corrupting your data.
