Can't stand VLC update, please help

I noticed about 2 months ago that VLC completely changed and for the much worse. I have no access to controls, there isn't even a control/options/preferences bar at the top anymore. It's so bad I don't even know how to full screen VLC. The expand button in the top right makes it full window, so I can still see my task at and the top of VLC (without an options bar mind you).

Using a Chromebook, however it appears the same on my desktop. What gives? Even Rohr clicking brings up a few pointless icons that have no description.
 
😵 It still is at 2.2.6 (since May 26), and nothing has changed.

No idea what version you are using.

If you have a problem with that, then revert back to a older version you like.

THats probably the update I speak of, it no longer has play buttons etc, the icons are tiny and orange, and completely non-descript. Can't even full screen...?
 
CTRL+P brings up Simple Preferences dialog box

On the lower left corner there is a Reset Preference button.

Click it and see.

CTRL+H also switch between minimal interface and full interface.

Control P does nothing and Control H is "subtitle delay"
 
Guess yours' VLC is a chrome extension? Not a standalone application on Chromebook?

The UI could be completely different from Windows. Can't help.
 
Mxnerd has a good point - my version 2.2.6 has everything available -no changes in GUI or functions.
