I have P4 2.8c on my built, but i can't stand the noise of the fan.

Check this out. It's a website that is dedicated to silencing PCs. They have proven very helpful for me and I'm sure you could find some solutions on there also.

Thankz man

I put a Fanmate on my Celeron 1.0A @ 1.33 (retail hsf 4200rpm) and have it turned down to ~ 3000rpm where it is very quiet. My temps only went up 2C. You will have to watch the temps on your P4-2.8 under load if you turn down your fan speed significantly.

You could try underclocking or undervolting your P4. My Celeron-T stock vcore is 1.475, it runs stable as low as 1.25. THis reduces heat output significantly. If you have a 533fsb P4 you could run it on 400fsb, ~ 2.1GHz for a P4-2.8.

Zalman 7000 model heatsink (I think they have aluminum and copper). SLK900 $20 deal was over.
Plop on a quiet fan like a Panaflo and you're good to go.

Make sure that it's the CPU fan that's making the noise though, because some PCs have really loud other components: vid card, case fans, PSU fans etc.
