4 x Aura Sound LST-627 (6 1/4 woofer + Ribbon tweeter) Tower Speakers $200
1 x Aura Sound LSC-527M (2 x 5 1/4 woofer + ribbon tweeter) center channel $100

Onkyo TX-DS474 receiver 55Wx5 DD high current receiver $150-$200

All of the above can be purchased at Ubid. Those prices include shipping

Acoustic Research S112PS Subwoofer $125-$150 (Ubid or Sears)

Thus For $500-600, you can get an AWESOME setup. Much better than anything that you'll find at Best Buy or Circuit City

I didn't want you to think no one read this. I've never heard of Aura Sound. And also, I wonder if shipping would signigicantly raise the price of this setup? My local SAMS Club sells a surround setup based on a JVC 6010(?). I'm not in the market at all, though, because I have a A/V rig already.

Aura's been around for a while......they've put out quite a few great sub drivers over the years... --> they know how to design drivers properly.

I wouldn't doubt that their speakers sound pretty good for the money.

Or you could build a sweet DIY kit (5 speakers, dual woofer mains and center) for around $350......add a DIY sub for another $150...and you'll get a sweet system, with drivers that have 5 year warranties.....that'll outperform the aura's :)

"You can do better. Aura Sound doesn't show up on Audioreview.com. "

It shows up under Aura LINESOURCE

How is that a bad sign?

The Dayton DVC or BluePrint subwoofer drivers aren't on audioreview either.......
At least Adire Audio's there.....and check out their rating.

Well, if you put it that way....

Those reviews aren't shabby at all.

I'd still get the Sony sub though.

Hehe, to Fairbanks ishipping would probably cost more than the speakers themselves.

DOn't you guys read???? I said they INCLUDE shipping. I've factored in the shipping into the price for the LST-627s. They go for $29 each. The shipping per pair is $40

Get the Kenwood HTB-504. It's about 400. Look on etronics.com
It's also on sale at Fry's for 399 here in CA :)
I just got that one. it's 600 watts with a receiver, and it has nice reviews on audioreview.com

Not much cheaper to Anchorage, though, what? :D

I highly doubt that is accurate for us Alaskans.
