Can't somebody put up a web page loaded with game hacks....

...that have nasty nasty viruses loaded in them? Something like this:

-Unsuspecting hax0r thinks they're downloading the newest version of OGC for cs or q3
-They install the "hack"
-The hack hoses their whole system through reformatting, corruption of files, whatever


I'm truly getting sick of all the online hacks going around. They're destroying the games that we love to play. Counterstrike used to be fun, until the hacks went rampant. Rocket Arena used to be fun, until the hacks came into play. Notice a trend? Let's make those little sonsofbitches pay!!! :|:|:|

I really, absolutely don't get why people use hacks. I really don't. What would be the fun? You aren't using skill at all to win. How can you get any satisfaction?

I don't follow, are you talking about malevolent hacks that mess up your system, or hacks that change the gameplay of a game?

I've never experienced the former, but I hate the latter. I saw a mod in CS that can make your guy glow and then blow up, that was just stupid.

you get your satisfaction through ruining the game for others and pissing them off. hell, it's kind of funny to read those pics on myg0t's page just to see how pissed off the people playing are.

I'm referring to the hacks that change the gameplay. We should disguise the malevolent hacks AS those gameplay-altering hacks.

Agreed. Back in the day, there was this whole site by people who called themselves "CS-Professionals" who made hacks that, say, gave everyone a color-coded arrow showing pointing down at them showing their place in the level, or the well-known wall hacks, or invisible hacks, etc...so stupid, yet they thought they were just the best players ever, too. There is always someone who has to ruin something cool for the rest of the people. :|

There's a coworker at work that plays single player games, and only cheats. Ex. the flying cheat, the invulnerable cheat, ect. I asked him why...he said its no fun to get killed.

I know, that's the only problem. But isn't there anything that's not considered a virus by the antivirus companies? Or would virus scanners automatically pick up on any type of program that are written to delete and format?

I gave up on any good online gaming because of this. I believe you should play the game as the creator intended.
XBOX live gave me a big stiffy. I then saw that you'll be downloading levels and stuff. It will be only a matter of time before XBOX live games get haxored and ruin the games. So I gave up.

That realization and the combination of Metriod Prime saved my cube from Ebay. I still may get XBOX for an easy media center on my TV.

there are MANY serverside counter-hacking programs out there. They will detect and auto-ban those with ogc, those who attempt to crash the server, and the wallhacker/aimbot etc people

hacks aren't as rampant as they have been before...

cheating in single player games is quite normal

i only cheat in single player when the game gets messed up or broke (i.e. im stuck in a wall or something) and i dont want to revert back to a far away savegame.

Nah, i quit cs a long time ago, twas quite easy hehe. RA hacks are harder to tell, since railing isn't exactly easy, compared to awping, since the pace of quake is so much faster. But you still can differentiate between hacks and non-hacks, sometimes.

fatbaby - while i agree those server-side anti-cheat software are good, they do not always work and are exploited within a week, if not less sometimes. I think it was HLGuard 1.29 that right after it came out they realized that the old OGC could go undetected on it. I do not trust those things any farther than i can throw them. A friend of mine owns and runs a gamecenter (Walkin and pay gaming place) and he's tested a bunch of cheats against CS and HLGuard and never been detected.

The biggest thing is having Good server admins. If you've played long enough you can tell if someone is cheating or not. Most people who cheat do not know how to hide it very well and it's very easy to tell if you watch them play.

I still play CS (CAL-IM) but I really try not to pub to much. I mostly just play scrims and matches. I haven't been bothered by cheating in a long time, it's the idiots that dont know how to play and don't play as a team that kill me

The thing I hate is when people accuse you of hacking just because you are good. I was in MOHAA, and I do not cheat, and I had like 40 kills straight without being killed myself. They said stop hacking or be kicked. And I responded saying I wasn't hacking, I am just good. And they kicked me. I was like wtf, and then just put there IP on my iptables filter, so I no longer see them on my list of servers in MOHAA. But back on topic, the people that accuse people are hacking just because they are good, should really smart up and realize PEOPLE CAN BE BETTER THAN THEM!!
