Can't Sleep!

I've been underslept for a few days now. I'm spending enough time in bed at night, but just not sleeping during enough of those hours. I lay around really late not falling asleep, then I wake up too early the next morning.

Also, I can't seem to fall asleep during the daytime. I tried yesterday for 2 hours to no avail.

Last night I only got 5 hours of sleep. :(

Any suggestions that don't involve drugs?

3. lie down on bed feeling miserable
4. sleep.

What do you do during the day? If it doesn't include active, strenuous work or exersise, I would recommend it. It sounds like you really need to exsaust yourself.

Stop drinking anything with caffeine. How much do you drink during a normal day? Alcohol can also interfere with sleep.

Yeah, but exercise during the day can help a lot if you have trouble falling asleep. Not only does it make you more tired since you spent a lot more energy, it makes you less stressed if that is the problem.

No caffiene after 5:00 PM - either in coffee or in sodas.

Stop thinking about every little thing at night in bed, you get all worked up
about trying to solve trivia & it leaves you tired since you stayed awake.

It's kind of hard to blank out your mind though - just think about P & N !

Drinking anything with high concentrations of alcohol right before bed time is a no-no. This includes Nyquil. Sure it will relax you and help you fall asleep initially. But, It won't be a restful sleep and your sleep will most likely be broken by waking up a few times during the night.

Errr, I don't know about you but when I take Nyquil, I'm gone for the whole night. I don't feel or hear anything. If that isn't good then I dont know what is.

do some light exercise (run up and down the stairs a few times), make sure youve drank some water, make sure youve used the bathroom, don't eat for 2 hours before you go to sleep (alternatively, pig out and flop into bed) and try not to think of anything (forget your girlfriend, the Geforce 6800 ultra, cheese, etc.)

The same happens to me sometimes. anything special in the last few days? (eg exams soon, airplane flight, etc)
