Just wait till you see the real centipedes that like living here in Madison... I live in a house about a mile east of the Capitol and when we moved in and cleaned out the basement.... ACTUAL centipedes, not the fluffy house variety, raided the entire house. The biggest one I saw was just over three inches. Next day, I went out and bought some stuff you spray all around door frames and holes in the floor and whatnot, haven't seen one since.

How long does it take centipede colonies to travel a mile or so? I'm a block southwest of the capitol.

I got some sleep but woke up sweating because I forgot to turn the fan on. I'd change topic to "can't sleep because it's hot" but I'm hoping the centipede imagery is still going to keep me up when I try to go back to sleep in a second.

During an indie tour last year, I had the pleasure of staying in a hotel in the Richmond VA area that turned out to have a rather notable centipede issue.

I feel your pain.

One day I was sitting on my basement steps. I heard what sounded like a fly buzzing. I looked down to see a fly that was caught by a centipede. Pretty neat.

Haven't had problems with centipedes before, scorpions yes, but not centipedes.

For scorpions, I usually look under the bed and on the posts supporting the bed. Remove the scorpions and crush them. I got 5 one night. Of course, check the sheets as you climb in.

Look around on the floor for others. Make sure windows and doors are sealed so more don't enter the room. Be careful where you step in the morning.

House centipedes are actually pretty big cowards. They'll run away and hide in a corner when they're not in a dark and humid area.
