I have a dialup connection 56k, windows 98se. I will get disconnected then the option to reconnect, so I reconnect. when it reconnects sometimes I can't get any pages to load sometimes I can. So when I go to Disconnect from the internet I click on the icon in the system tray and click on disconnect, nothing happens. so I click ctrl+alt=del and close program Rnaapp from there, get error message mmkeybd has caused invalid page fault in module kernel 32.dll at 0167:bff7b9a6. Then it will close. sometimes I also get explorer has caused invalid something and willl be shut downbut not always. anyway if I want to reconnect after I get the mmkeybd message I have to completly reboot. been to several forums and searched mkb can find out how to fix it, all I get told is reformat, any Ideas ? appreciate any help. This forum is the best I have seen yet so thought I'd give it a try here, thnks

best thing you can do is try setting up your modem again completely from scratch your only other choices is either an os reinstall or format.

do you happen to have any other systems on hand maybe? to try and test out what will work seperately etc. and so you can determine the prob given it will take some time but ou can start with the modem on another Computer and work your way through each component such as your hard drive etc.

Just wanted to add that this problem seens to happen only when I use winmx file sharing program, is it possible my isp has something to do with this? I ran a program called attack replicator, while running winmx, it is supposed to send back anything an attacker sends to your pc, so I get this message in attack replicator stay open and when I do a back trace it shows my isp as the one who sent this attack, any ideas

O.K. it has happened again several times, something has changed. It disconnects then box pops up on screen says do you want to reconnect, I used to click yes, but this time I clicked cancel, then reconnected through dun, then tried to shut off connection and guess what, it worked. reconnected and disconnected several times, so far so good as long as I don't reconnect through the box that pops up on the screen.
O.K. now someone tell me why and how to fix the problem, or would it reqire a reformat?
Thanks Optimist

P.S. not gonna reformat just yet, just gonna wait awhile and test this out some more!
