cant setup an ftp since i used a switch

ive ran ftps before
but now i use a switch between me n my folks pc
and i cant set an ftp up anymore
well i can but no one can connect to it
please help

im using Win XP and Bulletproof FTP Server

a switch has nothing to do with your FTP not working.

What kind of internet connection do you have?
That type of info is sorta necessary in order to help you out. :)

most likely you have added a router into your network. Just look at the router configuration and open/forward port 21 (ftp) to the computer with the server

Yessir we need some more info. What type of internet connection do you have?
Do you have router in the mix?
Do you get a static or dynamic ip from your isp?
Does your computer with the ftp service running have a internal or public ip?
etc...

i have DSL
and it is a switch for realz

BUT ITS ALL GOOD
some how the XP firewall enabled itself.
so turn that off and it works now.

I was just going to point the finger at XPs firewall...
That said, if you're connected to the internet it's not a bad idea to leave the firewall running and simply allow FTP through in the firewall settings.
