Can't set Sapphire X1900XT to stock 3D speeds

I have a Sapphire PCI-E X1900XT and I am trying to follow Madshrimp's Overclocking Guide.

It says to start out by creating a new profile in ATITool, then raising the clock and mem to 625/750, after you've raised the VGPU voltage to 1.425V. These, apparently, are all stock numbers (in 3D) mode.

Anyway, the moment I apply the settings, my display goes out (black) and I don't wait around for anything worse to happen.

Shouldn't my card be able to run at least in stock 3D speeds? I cannot go further o/c if I can't even do the first step!

Any help would be appreciated.

And make sure you're not changing clocks while the fuzzy cube is showing because that has a habit of locking up the video card/driver.
