I have been through 4 different heatsink fans, (Scythe Ninja, Tuniq Tower, 120 Extreme, and one other) and I have even lapped them, I use thermal paste 5 and make sure I have plenty of high CFM fans blowing and for the life of me I can't keep my temps any lower than 60-70c even idle and this is without any OC.

I am using coretemp and have "show delta to tjunction" checked. If I un-check that I get temps around 35c.

Am I doing soemthing wrong?

I have had this same results on a P5K and IP35 pro.

I am using a Gigabyte 3D aurara case.

Isnt there a way to get my temps lower without H2o?

CPU is a Q6600

there is a chance that your temp sensor is defective... Try stressing the cpu at 100% usage and see if the computer crashes.. if its showing 90+ degree and its running stable then your temp sensor is off...

Also try some different monitoring software.

I don't know what that delta is, but 35c is a good normal temp for idling with a high end heat sink / fan on a high end chip.

WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

you have great temps. your actual cpu temp is 35c. the delta to tjunction means how much hotter your chip can get before, i would suppose, extreme damage.

SELL ME YOUR OLD HSFs

This is the case for me: my temp sensor is almost definitely broken. After using multiple cooling solutions (Scythe Infinite, Stock HSF, CoolIT Freezone), I can't get my idle temps below 55c at idle. When stress testing both cores with SpeedFan, my temps jump to 80c with no crashing or throttling.

Question: is the temp sensor on the CPU or the Motherboard? I also tried replacing my e6700 with an e6600 and get similarly high temps.
