Hey guys,

I have an annoying little problem that's frustrating me to no end right now.

Following some information I found about blocking access to some of the more overloaded servers from Youtube, I'm trying to block some IP's, but failing somehow. It should be simple, but for whatever reason, my rules are being ignored.

I must be missing something, because I have no idea what else is going on.
First, I run Wireshark while playing some videos that will not stream properly, and note down the source IP. After a few runs, I have the information I need.

I then tried two methods; first going into the Inbound Filter section of my DIR-655 and adding the IP range set to Deny. I also went into the Windows Firewall settings, and added an inbound rule to block connections from that same range.

However, even with this, Youtube is still somehow managing to stream to me using those IPs! How?!

I feel like pulling my hair out right now.

Nevermind.. I knew I was missing something.

I went back and added the IPs to a blocked outbound rule as well, and it seems to have worked. Youtube is now loading 360p videos without having to buffer, and for the first time, I can stream 720p uninterrupted.
