Can't see SMB shares on NSLU2 from my Windows MCE box

dunce

Senior member
Ok, I have searched all over the web and can't find an answer. I am running Windows media Center 2002 with latest Roll up 2005. I Have a Linux server/ Linksys NSlU2 with a 250gb USB drive. All on a Dlink router.

I can't not see any shares on my Linux server! I can browse the network and see the server but when I double click I can't see any shares. I seem to remember something about MCE not working with Network shares but I couldn't remember if that was Domains only. This is not a domain. I can see the shares from a Windows XP x64 box, 2 Mac's, and my Ubuntu 6.06 box. So I think it has something to do with MCE.

ANY HELP?

Thanks,
Paul

Maybe I should simplify this? Can a Windows MCE map a share from a Linux box using SMB? Samba? Or a Windows share for that matter?

Thanks,
Paul

Ok I go it, never mind. It has something to do with login credentials. It wouldn't prompt me for a login. I had to right click on the server and select properties to get the login.
