Can't see "Play Control" window but taskbar says its open

Hi there. Just found the weirdest problem...I double click on the volume icon in the task bar, and the "Play Control" button shows up on the task bar as if the window is open, but I don't see it anywhere on my two screens. The only thing that I did before this problem is try to install a Compaq Smart Array 3200 in my system, but it froze winXP when it autodetected the IBM PCI to PCI bridge on the card. Next restart the machine wouldn't get to the winXP login screen. I pull the card out and the machine starts fine, but I have this problem with the volume control that's really annoying.

Any help would be appreciated.
