Can't see my wireless signal anymore...

Hi all,

I have a Dell 8600 laptop, built-in wireless G. I have been using it fine with a Netgear 802.11G router for about a month now. I have been taking the laptop back and forth from work for a week, but I've always connected at work via ethernet.

I ran into a problem last week concerning ethernet, but discovered it was simply my work's network changing the node type of my laptop anytime I plugged it in. So when I come home, I simply change the node type back to "1" in the registry, reboot, and all works fine.

This last weekend, I used ethernet in another area of the building that has also wireless connectivity. Its possible I connected to the wireless instead of the ethernet. Now at home, I can't see my wireless connection in the wireless tool. i.e. double-click the wireless icon, and choose "refresh network list." Ethernet works fine...

What's going on here? I have no clue how to troubleshoot this!

I'm trying a previous restore point. If that works, then its clearly a registry or other Windows setting of some kind...

OK - not working after restoring an old restore point.

I have the newer Netgear 802.11g router. I unplugged the power for a few minutes, then plugged it back in. I turned off my wireless security, made sure the channel was the same on both the router setup and the laptop, and under Advanced -> Wireless Settings, have it setup as "Enable Wireless Router Radio" and "Enable SSID Broadcast"

...still can't see the wireless connection. I'm lost!
