Can't see LAN server, network works fine

I'm trying to set up a lan party. One PC is stationary with XP and a laptop with Vista. I brought my router and everything seems fine. Both computers are in the same workgroup and I can see and access them in my network places or whatever. However, when trying to set up a server in Soldiers I can't see it on the other computer. Strangely enough I also can't create one on both computers. They have different IPs and MAC addresses so I really can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. I would be grateful for any help.

Forgot to add, I also thought about that. Could the network card supposedly having the same MAC address as the PC have anything to do with it? But that's the ethernet port not the wifi one. Could this be the reason?

Unless you're running software to spoof the MAC address, they don't have the same one. MAC Addresses are unique to the hardware.

Thanks for the help, but was too drunk to bother anymore. Anyways I still have no idea what actually happened. The computers could ping each other fine and I even unblocked the ports the game supposedly uses on the router, to no avail. The game doesn't require a key, we were sharing a copy, but it worked just fine on different computers.
