Can't see files on CF card?

I've encountered a strange dilemma on my 8gb Kingston Flash Card. I use it in my Dell Axim X50 PDA and haven't had any problems with it, until now. Both Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows 7 recognize the card and show that about 50% of it is in use, but I can't see any files!!! The card is clearly halfway full but no files are showing whatsoever. I even tried a recovery program figuring that the files were erased, but they weren't. It only found files that I actually did erase in the past months ago. Has anyone else encountered this and know what the fix is? (and no, the files are not set to hidden and I have enabled "View hidden files" just to make sure)

Are the files important to retrieve?

If they are, and your recovery program didn't help, then you might have to check with a professional recovery company like Ontrack or Drive Savers. Google them for phone numbers.

If not, try reformating the card. Try using a different format program like HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL or Panasonic SDFORMATTER. Google them. Both can be downloaded from various free download sites. If that doesn't make the card work again then it is probably defective. In which case you should contact Kingston for a warranty replacement.
