Not sure what its called but its the same reason you can see vertical lines on an older CRT monitor when looking at one on TV/film.

I bet if you looked at it with a camera with an optical viewing window rather than a digital screen, you wouldn't see them either. :hmm: You're camera is magic!

How about the old days of CRT monitors and the refresh scan line that showed up on TV cameras.

If you want to really blow your mind, point your digital camera at a IR remote and push a button. It's like ghosts! D:

Holy crap, that's awesome! I just tried it. :awe:

As for the prop, it just has to do with the refresh rate of the real time camera/display. If you take a picture it may do the same, but for different reason (the shutter speed).

Can sorta see the prop but still blurred. I'd be curious to know what the typical RPM of a prop is, I just remember it being so loud! I was at the seat right next to the prop.

Oh and since I went to pull out that pic, I found this one which turned out pretty awesome.

If I had another opportunity to go in a plane I'd do it in a heart beat. Was awesome.

does my camera need a flash...fuck It I'm trying anyways

edit:
does not seem to work

It's tricky you need to be very close, like point the remote on your desk, and point the camera on the same spot as the remote points to, while looking at the camera's LCD screen press buttons on the remote. Best done in the dark.

The same reason you could see scan lines on old computer monitors when on TV. Film makers had a hard time filming early computer screens when computers came into prominence.

If that turbo prop was on a treadmill and you were next to it taking a picture.. would you still be able to see the blades?
