can't scandisk at all in win98se

it's format time right?? when i start the scandisk process, it freezes my computer.. is it time for low level format?? or any other suggestiosn??
 
No..I wouldn't reformat if the only thing that's wrong is scandisk.
Another option is to boot into "Safe" mode. Try scandisk from there.

I assume you have McAfee Virus Scan. Turn Vshield off. I've seen PC Win95 and Win98 not make it through with Vshield going.🙁
 
nope, i tried safemode scan disk and it still died.. also i didnt' have a virus scan software enabled during the scan disk process.. oh well it's best to reformat anyways..... i been trying to run max+plusII on pc, but it constantly crashes here and there..
