Can't save changes to a word doc

Need help with saving changes to a pw protected word doc. I added a few lines to the document but it will not save. I have tried everything in the help file but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Presuming you know the document password, have you tried removing it from the document?

Thanks for the help. I can open the document fine with the pw. I'm using word 2003 which, I think, doesn't apply to your link.

Here is a link describing visually how to remove a known password from a Word 2003 document password (ignore all the links on the page, as they are selling software to remove passwords which you obviously don't need):

My suggestion is to totally unprotect a copy of the document and then complete your edits. Once you are done editing, you should be able to re-apply the password to the copy and re-save it if you want to.

make sure same name file can not exist in your system,,
