Can't run System Information or systeminfo command line tool in WinXP

All of the sudden I can't run "systeminfo" from the command line or use System Information. When using the command line tool I get the message "ERROR: Access Denied", the windows tool gives "Access denied to WMI server on this computer...". Nothing odd is coming up in my system, security or application event logs (and I have security audits in place). Plus the WMI service is running fine. My guess is that something's messed up in the account policy settings or that Windows has messed itself up, possibly because of recent hot fixes? I can't find anything about this on the MS KB, so any help is greatly appreciated.
