athlon xp 1700+
MSI kt266a mobo

soundblaster live sound card
512mb ram
60gb seagate hard drive

ok...

the error message....
there are alot of lines which are displayed, but the last few (which i think are the only relevant ones) are the following:

EIP: 0068:[<00008382>]
...
...
Stack: {some hex value}
Call trace: {some value}
Code: Bad EIP value.
<0>Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

and it just stops there! i cannot enter n e commands.. it just crashes!... i have to press restart button and restart. oh and one thing..... the above error message is only displayed when i select the following options:
* linux-nonfb
*failsafe

when i select the "linux" option i do not get n e thing at all... just a blank screen!

thanx
