I just downloaded 3dmark2001se and wanted to see the demo. Mt system is an athlon 1600 xp, 256 DDRAM, ECSK7S6A motherboard, and KYROII w/ 32 video!

The 3dmark logo would show on screen but running the benchmark or the demo in 640 x 480 crashes the computer.... I know kyro does not have good drivers but even the demo doesn't work.

I have windowsxp and 98se installed. both of them fail the tests. upgraded kyro with the latest drivers. what else did i miss?

Thanks in advance :)

Its been so long since anyone discussed the KyroII, and I never owned one, so I'm taking a few guesses here. Does the Kyro2 support DX8 and have hardware T&L? If not, thats your problem. You'll have to select software T&L instead of the "pure hardware" setting IIRC. Same problem with any other card that doesn't have native hardware T&L capabilities....although I thought the Kyro2 did have hardware T&L. Anyways, even if it runs, don't expect it to run well, which doesn't necessarily mean the kyro2 is total junk, just means it will have a lot of problems with games that require Hardware T&L. My voodooo 5 had the same issues, but it ran any game I threw at it decently well until I replaced it around this time last year.

The only time I had similar problems is when I was using the old AGP drivers with my SIS motherboard.

If you havn't already I suggest you upgrade your motherboard bios to v1.0d and make sure your using the latest agp driver which is currently v1.12.

Although the Kyro2 doesn't have hardware t&l this doesn't stop 3dmark 2001se from running, when I had my Kyro2 it used to run fine although my score was only approx 3200 with a 1700 Athlon XP.

Do other games run ok and if so don't worry about 3dmark because it's cr*p anyway! :)

What Kyro2 drivers are you using and what type of Kyro2 is it (Hercules, Videologic etc)?

BTW:The latest Kyro2 drivers are v1.06.16.0055!

Get the amd patch from the amd web site and see if that fixes anything, also, make sure no resources are shared....I had a problem with games not running on my kyroII....
