Can't remove codecs in XP

I'm trying to remove some codecs from XP Home by removing them in "Video Codecs" properties in the Device Manager but after I click "OK" on the dialog and return, the codecs are still there. A couple of my codecs seem to be messed up, so I'd like to remove some codecs and download new ones. Thanks for any tips.

Your are trying to do the right thing on the wrong place. Normally when you remove something from the Device Manager, it will be removed only from System, letting the dlls and all datas on the harddisk. The only possiblity ist over Software or Overwriting it with a new version of it.
