can't receive net send

hi,

i can net send fine to other computers. however, when i try to send to myself, it says it was sent, but i never get the message (maybe a blessing?) and noone can message me either.

anyone know how i can (un)-fix this?

in services under messenger, it it Started and Automatic.

Any kind of firewall blocking the traffic?

when i do properties, advanced for each of the dial-up connection and LAN, the firewall box is unchecked.

in services, internet connection firewall is stopped (not started).

i have never installed firewall software. anything else i need to check?

btw, when i net send myself, i hear the BING that you hear when you receive a message. when another computer on my network messages me, i hear the BING also, but no message.
