Can't read this one guy's 700m burns

Everytime a friend of mine tries to burn me a 700M CD, my CD can't read it. I have 700m cd's that I burn and read just fine and I have other guys who have burnt me 700M and I have no problems with them but this one guys's burns, I just cannot read. Any ideas? He says that he burns for other people and they have no problems...only me!

What's the deal with this Joliet and ISO 9061 whatever thing?

Are these actual burns, or packet-written cd-rw's?
If it's the latter, that's your problem: Nero's packet reader (InCD? I think?) can't read packet-written cd's done with CD Creator's (DirectCD), nor the other way around.

My guess is that your friend is not closing the disk . . . if he is using Direct CD, they are only readable in his computer. He needs to finalize them. Set up the CD on his HDD and then do "Disk at Once." If he is adding packets over time to the CD, it stays "open" until he finalizes and closes it . . . that applies to Nero and ECDC. He apparently doens't know what he's doing.

good ideas all around. do you/he have DMA enabled/disabled? try diferent combos, i know for my old burner it couldn't burn in DMA mode. also, try to use different media if you haven't already (and try 650MB discs).
