Got several dvd-r discs of a Christmas production that I was going to edit (they had a camera feeding straight into a consumer dvd recorder - the stand alone kind, not computer drive). However, nothing will read these discs. Computer #1 (winxp, nec-1100A dvd+R drive) shows empty. Computer 2 (winxp, nec-1300A dual format drive) shows empty. Living room dvd player (which I know plays dvd-r discs) says no disc. Looking at the bottom of the discs they're clearly written onto... any ideas?

On the last night, the dvd recorder died, so I'm wondering if it was having troubles before it died and wrote garbage discs, or if there's something else going on... HELP!

If it's stuff you really want, maybe someone could finalize the dvds for you on their set top recorder. Any idea who manufactured the recorder?.

I took them back and put them in a similar recorder (the one they were using died, but they bought a model up from the same brand) and finalized them. Problem solved and they're perfect now!
