Can't Read CD-RWs *Solved - ol' standby of Uninstall/Reinstall*

We use a CD-RW back-up system for short-term project back-ups here at work. For some reason, neither of my CD-ROMs will recognize them. I have a Mistumi 54x CD-ROM and a Lite-On 52x24x52x CD-RW. I also have Nero 5 installed.

Explorer doesn't even recognize that there is a disk (W2K OS). The "CD Deluxe" CD-player does tell me that there is a data CD in the drive if I try to "play" it. Also, if I start a multi-session in Nero, I can pick a track to continue burning, but all the files already on the disk show up as "X"'s for their icons.

An older computer running W2K has no problems reading it. Also, the guy who burned them (in Nero 6) can read them in his DVD-ROM drive.

I've burned and read other CD-RWs and CD-Rs with no problems.

The tracks were burned in Joliet mode.

Any other information you might need, let me know? If someone can chime in soon as this is an immediate problem, I'd much appreciate it.

Well, when in doubt, use the 'ol standby. Uninstall - Reinstall.

Seems to have fixed the problem. Don't know what it did. All of the settings seem to be exactly the same (DMA modes, drive letters, driver files, etc.). Anyway, if anyone knows WHY this worked feel free to chime in (I'm always curious).

Otherwise, feel free to let this thread drop to oblivion.

Thanks for reading.
