Can't read CD-Rs on Dell P4 machine

I create CDs using Nero and have had no problems reading them on a large number of PCs. Except one. Yesterday I popped in my CD into a Dell P4 machine running Windows XP Pro and with a single black (not sure of make) CD-RW. The drive would not read my CD, yet would read an ordinary CD and a CD created using it's Easy CD Creator software.

Any ideas why? I was logged on as the administrator by the way.

Thanks for your comment.

I actually contacted Dell Tech Support and they suggested that it was an incompatibility problem with the Nero Software I was using. I must admit I was surprised. Nero uses ISO 9660 for recording, which I would hve thought could have been read by all CD-RW drives.

Do you think I could read the CD if I finalised the CD? I can't get to the machine to do a firmware upgrade until next week.

Well, I guess nero could be at fault. Upgrade to the latest version while you are at it.

While it all seems weird, I have seen something like this before. A CD full of MP3's would skip if burnt with Nero, but if you burn it with EZCD it was OK. So everything is not perfect with nero, although pretty close.
