Yes I know. I'm stressed because I have a butt-load of assignments due and for this to happen is just plain BAD LUCK!!!

Luckily, I found a way to download word 2007. Will this mean I won't be able to edit my recently saved word 2003 documents? Or do they combine? or what??!?!

OpenOffice will read/write .doc format.

wtf?? please speak english. Remember you're talking to a technological inept fellow here..

Why do you insist on being so obtuse? Did you even bother to search Google for OpenOffice?

If you go to http://www.openoffice.org/, you can download the free office suite and install it. It should allow you to open and edit your Word 2003 files.

Step 1. Install OpenOffice.org (it's free, but you have to guess the URL)
Step 2. Complete assignments
Step 3. Profit!

Wow he complains about a trial not working, when it's a 30 day trial. You're never supposed to re-install a trial, and usually software will stop you from doing it via the registry.

Dude just download a bootable Linux CD and type on OpenOffice. Google "knoppix".

Another thing you can do to improve performance is to make sure your computer is running cool:

1. go get a large pitch or bucket
2. fill it with ice and water
3. pour it all over your computer/keyboard/monitor
4. profit!

They never included Word in their O/S. Quit being such a cheap ass and buy software. You're in school, there's academic discounts. Use them.

OpenOffice is pretty nice, but it won't allow me to convert the files to word-format. Only PDF....and PDF sucks. Suggestions?

Um I'm pretty sure it allows you to save in doc format. When you save, try pulling down the menu and see what extensions you can save in.

Microsoft supports Office with downloads, add-ons, clip art and security updates for ten years at a crack. $150 is not a lot of money for what you get. If you can't afford even the academic version of Office, then get Works Suite, which contains full-version Word, plus a basic spreadsheet, database, image-editing, Encarta encyclopedia, calendar, Money 2006, and Streets & Trips.

There's an OEM version that's even cheaper but you only get to install OEM onto one computer evar, so I'd suggest Retail like I linked to.
