and a nice finale - I boasted earlier, about being handy with things, I finally figured out the cap on the splitter connector. I brought it upstairs to take with me to get another one, and in the better light I could see that down inside the barrel of the cap, there was a little opening in the sidewall. I figured there is a special tool that a serviceman would use to put down in there that would have some kind of nub or something, to engage the hole and use it to unscrew the cap. With a small screwdriver I was able to cock it over at enough of an angle to get a purchase on it and twist the cap around and off.

🙂

thats the problem - I ran this thing onto a 3rd page! I kept trying to add the one I see at the top of this page, and seeing nothing, then ... doh!

OK, enough

🙂

i would hesitate to do that. knowing cable companys they will say that by you knowing its there and using it they will charge you another 20 bucks for it. i agree with what some others have said, its widely known by the company as well as numerous customers that this happens. i believe there are ways they can stop it, like putting a filter on the line at your home to block the higher freqs used for cable, which i have seen happen before. the more likely case is that they have just been charging you for its existence all this time anyway. of course, there is no way on the phone they will say 'oh yea, youve been paying for those channels for the last 8 years, go ahead and use them its fine.'

edit: after reading your post it seems my assumption was true. they jacked up your rates by 10 bucks, then lowered them again on internet service, so i guess you are back at the same price youve been paying but have the green light for cable too. you could have used it before, but now the cable company is making you think you are getting a deal \:
