Can't print to my printer via USB cable?

I have an old HP 930c.

it used to print via parallel port on my desktop.

now it's connected to my laptop. (no parallel port)

laptop recognized the printer. i downloaded latest driver from HP. everything installed fine.

but when i try to print, i just get a printer icon w/a red question mark on my lower right screen.

What am i doing wrong?

This may be just for their newer devices, but many HP devices require installing the software *and then* connecting the USB cable. You may want to find the users manual somewhere.

usb 2.0?
does it work on desktops usb?
some usb might be finicky...

Yep, you mighta done things outta order. If not, Zepper put out a printer trouble shooting guide.
