I have 2 older computers - AMD K6-2 450 MHz (96 MB RAM) connected to an HP Deskjet 710C, and a 500 MHz (128 MB RAM) connected to an HP Laserjet 6L. Both run Win98se and I have no problems with either printer. Recently I switched the 2 printers so I could print in color off the computer with internet connection. I installed the drivers and made the newly connected printers the default. The laserjet prints fine with its new computer, but the inkjet now refuses to print or even feed in paper. When I try to print, all I get is an icon flagged red at the bottom right hand of the screen. Double clicking it shows a popup message that reads "user intervention required." Hmmmm, maybe I have to set the BIOS correctly, so I set the parallel port from SPP to SPP+EPP, just the way it's set on the other computer. Still nothing. I use the printer toolbox to test 2-way communication between the computer and printer, and it passes the test. I can even print a good test page on this inkjet with this toolbox, but I get nothing if I try to print from Word or Excel. Anybody with any ideas on how I can lick this thing? Thanks in advance.
