Howdy,
I am trying to install my RAID drivers but when it comes time to press F6, nothing happens. The computer continues to run and starts loading setup files. I originally had a wireless keyboard, but after several attempts at pressing F6 and it getting skipped, I switched to a wired keyboard. I am still having the same problem. Does anyone know what the deal is or how I can fix this? Thanks for your time.

Is it a multimedia board? Some have F-lock or F keys mapped to other functions so you might try a standard board if they are. There's a utility called f lock flip for this that returns them to the normal state.

either the ps2 port is fried or the keyboard is defective.
I'd agree with you except that the keyboard works with the bios and worked perfectly yesterday.

The board is also not a multiboard, its actually really old, so its got the standard keys and no more. Any other ideas on what could be happening or is there a short cut that I could do?

If the computer responds to the keyboard to enter and navigate the BIOS screens, it sounds like the F6 key is broken and not sending a signal to the computer when you press it during the Windows install process. Borrow another keyboard if you can, or buy the cheapest one you can find with a PS2 connection to complete the installation before reconnecting your wireless keyboard.

Are you waiting long enough for the "Install Additional Drivers" screen to come up? I SHOULD remember this (geez, I just did a RAID 1 Windows Server three days ago), but I don't THINK that it asks for a floppy disk immediately after hitting F6. It continues reading other setup files into memory. Be sure that you are waiting long enough. If you get to the point where Setup complains "Sorry...I can't find any hard drives", then you have a problem.

I am having a similar issue though it does go through most of setup before you can install raid drivers. My problem is once you get to press enter to setup xp or r to repair my usb keyboard stops working. Though it previously works for bios and the windows install of raid and sata drivers via f6 and windows setup, but the after you install sata nothing.

another alternative is to make custom cd with nlite that way you can integrate the drivers right into the install cd and will not have to press the F6 button to install them. it is very easy to do :)
