Can't playback DVDs with Ultra66 installed

Works with Media Player 9 ... but it messes up the colour balance & contrast settings something fierce. Washed-out != good DVD.

PowerDVD just locks the system outright.

Noob. "Ultra66" = "Promise Ultra66 PCI IDE Controller Card"

It's an addressed issue for 9X machines (SMART driver is buggy) but no mention of how to handle under 2K/XP. All I've found from Googling is to not use ATAPI devices with the U66. I could move the DVD and CDRW onto the slave on the motherboard, but I like when my devices have their own channels. Muchos Performos.

sorry took so long..

..1 lil item added to my rig and ..boom...stupid reactivate popsup...sheez.. ..anyway..using my ATA66 Promise IDE card/w LTD-163(non-D)..played 2 movies..Oceans Eleven and Sobibor...ccolors are fine..WMP 9/DX 8.1a using WinDVD codec..GF4ti4200 PNY...it might be

as your culprit...or ..M$ gotta love calling them 1am EST...

update just pulled the Promise ATA66 card out along with the LTD-163...had an issue with DVDDecrypter...locked up..froze my rig..
