can't play videos

hi! i have winxp, and a hercules geforce 2 mx, 512 meg ram. i've got this problem though:

whenever i try to play videos, the stop playing after x amount of time (staying stopped for usually more than 10 sec), and then after some time it will start playing again, only in spot y; and then this will repeat very frequently

so, i was wandering what could be causing this... any ideas?

More details might be helpful. Are we talking ALL video? Maybe just avi's or just mpg's? Is the video playing from your CD or you HD? Or are you talking about streaming videos? What's your CPU? When you say "then this will repeat very frequently", do you mean it frequently occurs when you start videos or it continues to pause every so often during playback?

From the lack of details the only thing I would guess is that some part of your system is fast enough to keep up with the video decoding and playback

EDIT: Okay. I was just looking at the system you have registered. If that's the same one you're using for the videos, I don't think the Athalon 1gig would have a problem. Of course if you're running a couple of other programs in the background, that's another story.
