I can't play hot new games like Swat 4 because my card isn't capable of T&L!

I can play Unreal Tournament 2004 though but any games with T&L I'm screwed.

:|

btw, Rise of Nations kicks butt.

my rant is over. :|

Except that deep, in the bowels of your bedroom, where no one can see you hauling around a 20lb mosnter and the 40lb powerbrick, a good gaming laptop, at least days, will deliver.

I wouldn't want to game on my laptop anyway. I play retro games which I like better than the one made today

yea, but for less money, a little 10 pound SFF PC and a 17inch LCD gives you much better performance then even the best gaming laptops.

I learned that lesson a couple years ago with a Compaq laptop, my new AMD 64 laptop with x600 graphics is a much better choice! :)

I haven't had the opportunity to witness one in person, But I did read anands review about a month ago.
It's a HUGE step forward for laptops, but a regular 7800gtx is a good 20 to 30 percent faster in most benchmarks.
Also, chances are, a SFF box with a top end CPU, 2GB of ram, a 7800gtx, a monster hard drive, and even a 19 or 20 inch LCD etc, will still cost less then any laptop with a 7800gtx go.

I stand by my statement

Don't get me wrong, laptops are great, but anyone who buys a laptop for the main purpose of gaming or plans on it really should re-evaluate their purchase.

When i got my iXPS2 with the 6800Ultra Go, it was performing FASTER than the desktop version.

And even a SFF, it's still not portable. Sometimes i want to use it at my desk, sometimes in the living room, and sometimes in my bedroom. I also take it to work with me. 8lbs is no big deal to lug around for me.
