$1000 dollar fine! Wow first I heard of this.

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — When you head down to the beach for a little fun this summer, county officials want you to leave the pigskin at home.
The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to raise fines to up to $1,000 for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County.
In passing the 37-page ordinance on Tuesday, officials sought to outline responsibilities for law enforcement and other public agencies while also providing clarification on beach-goer activities that could potentially disrupt or even injure the public.
The updated rules now prohibit “any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll” any object other than a beach ball or volleyball “upon or over any beach” between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Exceptions allow for ball-throwing in predesignated areas, when a person obtains a permit, or playing water polo “in or over the Pacific Ocean”.
However, during the winter off-season, the new rules will be relaxed.
Officials warned that any activities that could potentially “any person or property on or near the beach” should not be allowed during the peak summer season.
Your kids could also end up costing you big bucks: the ordinance also prohibits digging any hole deeper than 18 inches into the sand except where permission is granted for film and TV production services only.

It's unfortunate because that's great beach activity, but can understand it because those beaches can get so d@mn crowded.

THIS. HAS. TO. END!

I'm sick of corrupt politicians.

I'm sick of useless politicians.

I'm sick of the abuse of the system.

Enough is enough!

When will the people of this country wise up and stop electing idiots to office?

When will we rise up above this two party system, and create a political system that is truly by the perle, and for the people? No, you commies and ultra liberals can't come, this new system will have people WORKING and EARNING their pursuit of happiness. And no, you can't vote to take that away from those people in this new system. That means you will have to work, contribute.

There will be no patent trolling, no welfare for illegals, teachers will be paid well, education will be cheap, your children are your responsibilities - that means if you don't teach them well, you will be paying for their crimes along with them, no tax loopholes, and any lawyers found to be filing frivolous suits will be castrated. No more unions, public employees will have to start working, no stupid fees imposed on citizens without a vote by the majority.

Oh, and if you're found embezzling from the public, off with your head.

A volleyball can be just as dangerous as a football or soccer ball.
Idiots.
A volleyball is way more dangerous than a frisbee. Unless you happen to be playing frisbee with Oddjob's bowler, I suppose. One of my cousins had her nose broken by a volleyball; how hard would you have to throw a frisbee to do that?

It also bans digging holes deeper than 18" too. I used to that all the time when I was at the beach as a kid...

I remember running into something similar when I was walking along the beach at Delray Beach, FL a couple years ago (I have grandparents there). It was a cool, cloudy day, and the beach wasn't crowded. A couple was playing with a ping pong ball and a couple of paddles. The lifeguard approached the couple:

Lifeguard: Excuse me, but I have to ask you to stop doing that.
Man: Why? There's no one else here?
LG: I know, but if I let you do that, someone else will bring out a soccer ball and another person will throw a football. Then the activity level will just get too high.

I texted my girlfriend: We are never moving to Florida.

you and I were wondering the same thing after reading that.

:hmm:

I think the word harm was left out of the original sentance. If you click the link and try to read that 37 page ordinance you would think it was written by a group of monkeys on typewriters.

does that cover Huntington beach as well? Beaches in LA are not as good as SD. I hope SD's beaches do not follow the LA one on finding ppl for throwing frisbee or football.

lol suckers, the story was 100% wrong.

http://www.beachbelievers.com/en/be...-revolt-after-hearing-about-beach-frisbee-ban

, all that anger was for naught. The station that initially reported the story, CBS/KCAL, had in fact got it wrong.

Not only was the story wrong, County officials actually passed a law making it easier to play sports such as soccer, football and Frisbee on the beach.

Prior to this amendment, a law that had been in existence since the 80s - though rarely enforced - actually banned those activities on the beach.

Law or not, if I'm out relaxing and a frisbee or whatnot disrupts me it's getting thrown into the ocean. If it's a ball then I'll stab it first.

Keep your shit away.
