Can't play Flash in FireFox

Are you sure it's a flash animation causes Firefox to want to download Quicktime?

You can check the Page Info for the MIME type of the object (to make sure it's Flash), then you can look at aboutlugins to see if that type is being covered by a plugin. If not, install or reinstall Flash.

yep

I even clicked on the adblock tab and it showed http://www.blahblah.com/blahblah.swf

that's a flash file, right?

In theory, yes. The server could still be specifying a quicktime mime type though.
