Recently did a clean install of Win XP on a new HD - P3 450 system with 256 MB RAM.
XP didn't like my old video card, so I picked up a new GeForce 2 MX 400 - 64MB.
I loaded the OEM WinDVD that came with the card, but I just can't seem to get a DVD to play. Tried to uninstall it, and get the same error message: Setup failed to run installation: The remote procedure call failed.
Then tried to use Windows Media Player. It found the DVD, started loading media, tried to start, and then just completely shuts down the entire application.
Not sure if PC Friendly is causing the problem. I tried to play an old Universal DVD which forced the installation of the subject program. Uninstalled it, but it still seems to come back.
Intervideo won't help, since it is an OEM copy, and my video card supplier is stumped.
Any suggestions?
