Cant play BF2 with Core 2 duo

I was just able to play BF2 and now I cant. Its because my T5500 Core 2 Duo is clocked at 1.66. I searched everywhere to see if there is a solution but I cant find any.

Anyone have any ideas how to get around this? Its a Dell Inspiron so overclocking is out of the question.

Any help would be sweet, or just ideas. Thanks.

Tyler

The fact that you can no longer play BF2 has nothing to do with your processor's speed. A 1.7 Ghz Celeron will play BF2. Something else is wrong.

You might have a virus. Run some scans to be sure. It also could be a hardware problem. If you think it is your RAM that is faulty, run Memtest and it will tell you if it's your RAM at fault.

it has a 256mb x1400. I doubt it has a virus, its new and barely ever sees the net.

I ran everything and it still crashes.. EA support is useless, it just says hardware specs (from late 2005) so none of it is updated with core2 duo info.

oh, sorry, it crashes to desktop on start up. (like it does when a piece of hardware isnt supported)

I ran the EAsy Info tool that came on the CD and it has a Caution sign nex to the processor.

its still going.

It is hardware related, i just have to play the game of process of elimination.

yes, newest 1.41 is installed.

maybe uninstall totally and then re-install, that has worked for many others 😉

I had a similar problem with my system. Did the game ever work at all, or has it done this all along? My problem was a refresh rate problem.

it worked for a while, then right before the 1.41 patch, it decided to stop.

memtest was fine. Everything EA told me to do was useless. Tried all of it and nothing works.

Does BF2 require a 1.7ghz to run? if it does, it probably just doesnt know that you're running a decent processor, and refuses to run? I dont have BF2, so I'm not sure on this.

It's a buggy game even in it's current patched state. Delete the game and re-install it as previously mentioned. If the 1.41 patch "breaks" it again then delete and re-install again and leave out the patch. 😉

There was a REALLY good software that would tell you what processes are being called when something's happening. It shortens your "game of elimination" because you can go straight to the problem. I've solved a few problems using that software. The name escapes me. what it does is lists the activities/dlls? being called when you do something. So, you can see it while loading BF2 and see what the system is doing.

C:\Documents and Settings\Pwnerer\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

in there you will find a video.con file and then there you can change your refresh rate to say 75hz or w.e regular windows runs at i had this problem when i installed my lcd
and yes same as above it was the refresh rate was too high

That's what I did a while back and it solved the problem. I hope this works for you.
