can't play ANY game! :(

I decided to format and resintall xp the other day cause i uh wanted sp1 😉 So I installed winxp, service packed it, did via4n1's, updated vid and sound drivers. Now whenever I try to play a game, it crashes within a couple seconds of looking or wandering around the level. the menus and everything work fine, but when i'm playing the game it crashes immediately. I've tried uninstalling sp1, reinstalling the games, reinstalling the drivers, swapping video cards and the same thing still happens. here are my specs

athlon 900mhz
abit k7te mobo
256 meg pc133
geforce2 gts w/ 32 meg ram
soundblaster live platinum.

any sort of insight into this problem is appreciated. thanks.
